The Ricoh IM 5000A sits in Ricoh's current business range and is built for departments with heavy day-to-day print volumes. It prints, copies, scans and faxes at speeds of up to 50 pages per minute, with a typical monthly page volume of 5,000 – 50,000 pages.

Speed and volume

Rated at up to 50 ppm, the IM 5000A is designed to run comfortably at 5,000 to 50,000 pages a month. Automatic two-sided printing is standard, so duplex output costs no extra time or configuration, and the device handles stock up to A3. Ricoh does not publish a recommended monthly volume for this model — the band quoted here is our own sizing guidance from its rated speed and duty cycle.

Scanning and document handling

A single-pass ADF captures both sides of a page in a single pass, so double-sided originals scan without re-loading the stack. Jobs are driven from the 25.6 cm colour touchscreen, keeping copy, scan-to-email and scan-to-folder workflows a couple of taps away, and OCR is included as standard so scanned documents come back searchable.

Connectivity and storage

Analogue fax is fitted as standard; a hard disk is included for held jobs and on-device workflows.

Finishing

Several finishing units are available, so stapling and higher-capacity output can be added when the workflow needs it rather than paid for up front.

Security and solutions

The IM 5000A is solutions-enabled: Ricoh Smart Integration and embedded panel applications run on the device itself, which is what makes secure print release, department accounting and scan workflows possible without a separate server for every job. That matters most where documents sit in an output tray in a shared area — held-and-released printing means a job only prints once the person who sent it is standing at the device.
